Maurice LACHAT Obituary

LACHAT, Maurice Albert
Maurice Albert 'Moe' Lachat, age 72, beloved husband for 26 years of Marilyn Dimlow (Barstis) Lachat, passed away at home surrounded by love on July 28, 2012. Born in Winsted to the late Leo & Eva (Goulet) Lachat, Maurice attended Winsted schools before enrolling in the U.S. Marines. He proudly served his country from 1958 to 1962 when he was honorably discharged. He then worked at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks as a fuel technician for 37 years. After retirement from Air Kaman he worked part time and then full time as a serviceman at Geissler's Supermarkets. In his earlier years he enjoyed being an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 189. He retired in 2010 and lived happily in Enfield with Marilyn and his dear buddy, their dog Bentley. He and Marilyn enjoyed two trips to Italy and one to England and France after his retirement. Moe was a communicant of Holy Family Church in Enfield and was an outgoing man who was never happier than when he could help someone. He was proudest of his and Marilyn's combined family, which became as one. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Wayne Lachat of Shoreham VT and daughter-in-law Tracey Lewis-Lachat of Windsor Locks, his step-daughter Lynn Augustus and husband Richard of Enfield, step-son Robert Barstis and wife Phylis of Broad Brook, step-son Jeff Barstis of Manchester, six grandchildren, Amanda Barstis, Paul Barstis, Breahna and Emily Boucher, Erica and Elizabeth Lachat, six great-grandchildren Benjamin Thompson, Lily Barstis, Reilly and Ivey Pachecano, Samantha and Alex Augustus. He also leaves his brother Charles Lachat and sister Pauline Hughes of Florida, sisters Leona Mangione, Rita King, Jeanne and brother-in-law Bill Wilcox of Winsted, Sister Noella Lachat of Allegheny NY, as well as many nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He was pre-deceased by his sister Bernadette Hogancamp. Our heartfelt thanks to the VNA and Hospice nurses for their kind and compassionate care of Moe. Many thanks also to our families, neighbors and friends, especially Cecy Mickey and Jan Bellinger for their unending love and support. Thanks also to Phylis Barstis for providing us with many delicious meals. Moe was a kind, loving, hardworking man whose biggest love was his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, good friend and neighbor and a very proud Marine. We will all miss him more than words can say.

Aunt Marilyn and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I remember Uncle Maurice at the family reunion years ago when I was about 3 years old, and we still look back at the VHS we have of it with him cracking jokes with Grandpa and family! He was a great man, full of spirit and laughter! Heaven will laugh a little more with him now :)
Warmest regards and deepest sympathy,
Lauren (Lachat), Nick, Bryce, and Elena Koerner

Dear Aunt Marilyn, Wayne, and the extended Lachat Family ... Moe was many things in this world ... Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Uncle, and more ... but what he really was --- all the time --- was someone who cared about others and made a difference in this world. I am grateful beyond all else at this time that Dad (Charlie) and Uncle Moe were able to share a recent visit. MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU AS WE CELEBRATE AND REMEMBER THE LIFE OF UNCLE MOE ... a life of dedicated service to family, friends, his country as a Marine, and the work he accomplished in life with excellence. Our thoughts, prayers, and love go out to each of you ...

Uncle Moe ..

Aunt Marilyn and Family - I will always remember Uncle Maurice as FUN! I remember thinking when I was a child that he was bigger than life..better than John Wayne! His laughter and his smile always contagious. And that twinkle in his eye when he was about to play a joke on someone. His heart is bigger than the world. His smile and laughter will live on in my memory forever and it will make me smile. Our love and comfort to you all.

To Aunt Marilyn and Family .. words can not express or begin to comfort your loss of Uncle Maurice. His legacy will live on with how he touched many lives during his time on this earth. His humour and kindness will be missed by all. This includes his stories regarding Dr Schmidtlab and his side kick Nurse LottaLip. (this is how Uncle Moe "inspired" us to eat our veggies when we were quite young).
His great sense of humour will be with us always.
Our best to all of you,
Michael, Linda, Lauren & Nick, Colleen.
