James Burton Walton

James Burton Walton, 67, of Ellington, beloved husband of Mary (Pane) Walton, died on Sunday, June 19, 2016, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 14, 1948 in Bristol, CT, son of the late Edward F. and Aline (Collin) Walton. Jim grew up in Bristol, attending St. Ann's School and graduating from Bristol Eastern High School in 1966. He went on to graduate from the University of Connecticut in 1970. He was married to Mary Pane on July 3, 1970 and together they lived in Virginia, South Windsor and Ellington. Jim started DBMI (Database Management Inc.) in January of 1973 and continued to work for the company after it was purchased by AMS until his retirement in April of 2003. Jim enjoyed some carpentry around the house and caring for his yard. A devoted family man and friend with a great sense of humor, he will be greatly missed. Along with his wife of over 45 years, Mary, he leaves his children, Julie Paiva, Edward J. Walton and his wife Melanie Zima of Waterbury, VT, Timothy J. Walton and his wife Brijin Kastberg of Holland, MA, and his beloved grandchildren, Cole Paiva, Reid Paiva and Elsy Walton. Family and friends may gather on Friday, June 24, 2016, 9 a.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Luke's Church in Ellington. Burial will follow at Ellington Center Cemetery. His family will receive friends on Thursday June 23, 2016, from 4-7 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Jim's memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
