ANDREWS, Dorothy A. Dorothy Allison Andrews, 104, died on Monday (July 17, 2006) in Essex. She was born in Yonkers, NY to Joseph and Margaret (Carson) Andrews. She is preceded in death by parents and sister Mildred (Andrews) Hallock. Dorothy graduated from Yonkers Schools and obtained a Master's Degree from NYU. Dorothy taught music in Yonkers Schools: Ben Franklin and Roosevelt High School until her retirement. She was a pianist, organist, choir director, and lifelong member of Good Shepard Church, formerly the Dayspring Presbyterian Church. Dorothy was active in the YMCA and during World War II she played the piano at the U.S.O. Dorothy also served as counselor at Camp Sloane in Connecticut and Director of Camp Yonkers for girls in Bear Mountain Interstate Park. In 1994, Dorothy moved to Old Saybrook, with her niece, Mildred (Hallock) McKinlay, wife of Donald McKinlay. Swan Funeral Home, Old Saybrook, in charge of arrangements. As Dorothy wished, funeral services will be private.
