George J. Bienkowski, 86, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, (November 28, 2012) at Hospital of Central CT, New Britain Campus. He was the husband of 64 years to the late Vivian (Nelson) Bienkowski. Born June 6, 1926 in New Britain, a son of the late John and Leokadia Bienkowski. He was employed by New Britain Machine for over 20 years, retiring from there. George was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Marine Corp, 5th Marine Division, and fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was a member of the VFW in New Britain and the American Legion Kiltonic Post #72 in Southington, the Iwo Jima Survivors of CT and the 5th Marine Division Assoc. George is survived by his children, Grant Bienkowski and his wife Maryetta of Plainville, Glen Bienkowski and his wife Joan of Windsor Locks and Sally Costantiello and her husband Robert of Southington; two beloved grandchildren, Ian L. Ainsworth and Lauren Ainsworth, who he loved more than life itself, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Lucian and Henry Bienkowski, three sisters Mary Maitz, Violet Wagner, and Ann Brennan. The Funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 4, 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St.,Southington to St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Rd. for a mass at 10 a.m. Burial with full Military Honors will be at South End Cemetery.
