Grover Aldrich

Born on July 9, 1934 in New Britian General Hospital, Grover J. "Pete" Aldrich died peacefully on June 11, 2014. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Kathern Terwilliger Aldrich and Earl Francis Aldrich. His Sister, Gail Anne Aldrich and Brother, Terry Jay Aldrich also died at a much earlier age- "Pete" attended elementary school in Plainville. CT. spent two years at Plainville High School and completed his High School education at The Gilbert School in Winsted, CT. In High School Pete participated in Football and track and receiving many awards in those areas. Pete was also Senior class president along with his closest friends Rob Bronson and Sal Failla. It was onto Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT. Following graduation from Riverdale. While at Middlebury, Pete excelled in football and Track where he was selected on many all American football teams along with his acts in Student Government. Pete was student body pros Co-Captain of the football team, Captain of the track team, where his pole vaulting record stood for over 25 years as well as Winter Carnival King. Pete was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, where he spent time as a navigator on refueling planes out of South Dakota. Drafted by the New York Giants football team in 1959 in his Junior year from Middlebury College. He served on special teams before he was forced into retirement by injury. Married in 1960 to Margaret Jean Irwin of Wallingford, CT. they had 2 outstanding children! Jeff presently living in Hebron, CT. and Cathy and two Grandchildren "Eric" and "Annie" and residing in Colchester, CT.
