BLUNT, Mildred Stuart

Mildred Stuart Blunt, widow of John Blunt died Wednesday, (June 5, 2013) at St. Francis Hospital after a brief illness. Mildred was born Jan. 17, 1923 to John Haze and Irma Stuart. She attended West Hartford Schools and went on to obtain her Nursing Degree. Mildred served in the Army Nursing Corps in World War II and met her husband, John, a wounded fighter pilot at the Army's Cushing Hospital. After the war, Mildred worked for many years in the Connecticut Bank and Trust Company Human Resources Department. Mildred loved to travel and was an avid reader. With her late husband she traveled to many civil war battle fields and often to Maine. Mildred is survived by her two sisters-in-laws Patricia Blunt Buckley of Hyannis, Massachusetts and Katherine Blunt Hart of Swampscott, Massachusetts her friends Aaron and Sandra Gersten, her dear friends and neighbors Leon, Marilyn Fraser and family, many nieces, nephews and cousins and her Schnauzer Pepper. The family wishes to express appreciation to her devoted caregivers, Junia Barry and Verona Welsh.
A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill, CT, with Father Henry P. Cody of the Church of Saint Timothy officiating. Contributions in her memory may be made to a . Online remembrances can be made at
