Robert Fiske Otis, Sr., 84, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Cynthia (Owen) Otis, went to be with our Lord, with his caring family by his side on Tuesday (April 15, 2014). Born in Houston, TX on January 12, 1930, he was the son of the late Dwight Coburn and Madeline (Fiske) Otis. Bob grew up in Gardner, MA and graduated from Gardner High School, where he met the love of his life, Cynthia, his wife of more than sixty years. He joined the U.S. Air Force, earned his pilot wings and served proudly as a Captain during the Korean Conflict. He continued to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force Reserves until 1970. Bob attended the University of Texas where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and then worked for United Technologies Corporation for over 25 years. A resident of Wethersfield for more than 50 years, he was a longtime active member of First Church of Christ in Wethersfield where he served on various committees and as past President of the Church Board. Bob was a caring and loving man who always selflessly helped his family and others in many ways. He enjoyed gardening and home improvement, but more than anything, he loved having his whole family together. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be dearly missed by his devoted wife, Cynthia; his daughter, Karen L. Otis of Newington; three sons, Robert F. Otis, Jr. and his wife Camie of Ewa Beach, HI, James C. Otis and his wife Cindy of Glastonbury and Dwight F. Otis and his wife Sharon A.
