Stephan Stocker Obituary

Stephan M. Stocker passed away March 12, 2016 after a long illness. Currently residing in South Carolina, Steve grew up in East Hartford, Connecticut and graduated from Southern Connecticut State University. He was the loving husband of Barbara (Milewski) Stocker, caring father of Claudia Leigh Stocker, devoted son of the late Donald and Lillian Stocker and brother to Ronald Stocker and David Stocker of Connecticut. Several nieces and nephews, countless friends and pets are also left behind. Employed as a Security Analyst, Stephan had been employed at FIS, Jacksonville, Florida for the past ten years. Prior to this, he was employed at ITT Hartford where he was an officer in the insurance golf league. There, he qualified and played in the Greater Hartford Open in June 1987, pairing with professional golfer, Lee Trevino. A lover of history and all animals, we ask that contributions be made in his memory to Old Sturbridge Village, Sturbridge, Massachusetts and a local or national "no kill' animal shelter of your choice. Private services are being held. Keep Steve in your memory by remembering the good times. By doing that, he will never truly be gone. Palmetto Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Mill, SC are entrusted with the care of the Stocker family.

So sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I worked with Steve in IT at The Hartford and played golf with him in the All Insurance Golf League back in the 80's. He was a very good golfer and lot's of fun to play golf with. I wish I knew he was working in Jacksonville. I've been living in Jacksonville since 1992 and would have loved to get together with him for a round of golf or just a visit. May he rest in peace.

Stocker & Johnson, they were the best, they were the team to beat', yet they were unbeatable in the Minnechaug Golf League for so many years while I was at the Hartford. When you teed it up with them you knew you better bring your best game just to avoid getting shut-out for points that night. Most likely either/both would be listed as low gross rounds for the year. They brought everyone else's game up a notch just to keep pace with them. Always a gentleman. I'm sure Steve has already made arrangements for his first round with some of the best that ever played the game. My sympathies to his family.

Jim and I remember Steve from The Hartford 35 years ago. We worked together in IRMD. He was a lot of fun and a great team member.
My prayers and thoughts go out to his family.

My friend and golf "buddy". I wish that we had had one more time to visit. I learned so much more about you during our last phone call. I had no idea that you loved museums! My sympathy to the Stocker family. He loved Barbara, his precious wife, with all his heart.
