Daniel Miller Obituary

Daniel Miller, Z"L, 95, of West Hartford, died peacefully, Monday March 31, 2014 with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband, for 71 years, of Cipie R. (Hoffenberg) Miller. He was a US Army veteran of WWII. Daniel started the Ct. Home Improvement Company and operated it for 50 years. He served as President of the National Remodelers Association and was a volunteer at the Ct. Attorney General's office as a consumer advocate. He lectured and lobbied for improved consumer protection. At the age of 45, he graduated from the University of Hartford. He and Cipie have been members of the Beth El Temple for the past 65 years and he was a past President of its Men's Club and was honored by them as Man of the Year. Daniel was a member of the Jewish War Veterans with Laurel Post#45. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Besides his wife Cipie, he is survived by three children: Marsha A. Rickless and her husband Sonny of Long Meadow, Mass., Barbara Rosenkranz of West Hartford and Ken Miller and his wife Joan of Baltimore, Maryland, six cherished grandchildren: Hayley, Amy, Nanci, Cara, Julie and Jeremy and six adored great-grandchildren and many dear lifelong friends. A funeral, with full military honors, will be held Wednesday, April 2, at 1:00PM in the sanctuary of the Beth El Temple, 2626 Albany Ave., West Hartford with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Interment will follow at the Beth El Memorial Park Cemetery, end of Jackson St., off of Arch St. in Avon. Following interment, the family will return to the synagogue for a meal of consolation followed by an afternoon Mincha service. The family will receive again on Thursday at the Miller residence starting at 6:00PM with an evening service at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Daniel's honor may be made to the Cipie and Daniel Miller Family Fund at the Beth El Temple. Dad will remain in our hearts forever. Dear Cipie and Family,

On behalf of all members of the Hartford-Laurel Post 45 of the Jewish War Veterans, I offer our deepest condolences on Dan's passing.

Please know that we proudly recognize and thank him for his service to our country as a member of "The Greatest Generation", and for his many years of support to JWV.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
May may happy memories of your lives with him help ease your sadness, and may he rest in peace.
