Roberta A Finley, 68, passed away unexpectedly on June 30, 2018 at her home in Easton, CT. She was born on November 16, 1949, in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Prescott H. and Norma M. Finley. Growing up in West Hartford, Robbie was a 1967 graduate of Conard High School. Robbie then graduated from Connecticut College in New London and continued her education receiving her MBA from University of Connecticut. Originally working as a reporter for the Norwich Bulletin, Robbie began her career in marketing and insurance at Barclay's American Business Credit. After working for many years at Travelers Insurance, Robbie retired from Phoenix in 2009. A talented and creative artist, Robbie greatly enjoyed painting, decorating and quilting. Her passions also included spending time gardening, cooking, and reading. Her love of Cape Cod was reflected in many of her paintings. In recent years, Robbie enjoyed walking tours in Italy and Spain and followed the UConn Women to the Final Four year after year. She is survived by her beloved family, her son and daughter in law, Jonathan F. and Jennifer Burke, her grandchildren Abigail, Charlotte and Davis of Trumbull, as well as her sister, Marilyn Finley of Maine, who will all miss her dearly. She will be lovingly remembered by her wide circle of friends. The family invites all who knew Robbie to celebrate her memory on Saturday, July 28 from 1-4 p.m. at 49 Flat Rock Road, Easton, CT. The Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport has been entrusted with the services. My mother Virginia and Robbie's mother Norma were close friends from childhood. We their kids knew each other from very early on, and into young adulthood, when some inevitable drift set in. News of her death leaves me heartbroken-- one of those old bonds you feel you will pick up again some day. Marilyn (Lindy) you have my deepest sympathy on the far-too-early loss of your sister. Roberta gave me my start in writing. She took a chance on me. She was an exceptional editor. Absolutely the best one in my entire career. She had a nice affection for all those that worked for her. She was immensely talented. Not always noticed because she made it look easy. I went on to some worldwide fame. She should be credited with launching many careers. Thoughts and prayers to her family. She was that good.

I am so sorry to hear this news. I worked with Robbie at Travelers. She was incredibly sweet, and thoughtful and I enjoyed my time with her. I remember sHe gave me a small plaque for my desk that I still have that summed up an inside joke that we had. I'll cherish that gift.

Dear Family - I've been so saddened with the news of Robbie's passing. She was a dear friend with whom I worked at Travelers and Citi. In our more leisurely years, we spent time together at Hilton Head and lunches in Westport during the holidays. She was so very talented and kind hearted...always so much pleasure to be with. I'm thankful for the time we've had together on this earth. God bless all of you as you morn your loss.

Dear, family of Robbie, I remember Robbie from Brownies, Girl Scouts and Webster Hill school. She was such a dear sweet person with such artistic talent and kindness. She once tried to teach me how to play the flute which she did beautifully; I never mastered it. Robbie has a wonderful soul -- I am glad I knew her and I know she will be missed by all of you.
