Frank Stolzenberg Obituary

Frank Lee Stolzenberg, 88, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018 with his family by his side. Born in Shelton, CT, he was a graduate of The Gunnery and Yale University and lived his entire life in CT, most recently in Bloomfield. Frank was predeceased by his first wife, Jean Hanson Stolzenberg and his sister, Claire Manger. He is survived by his loving wife Jeanette "Ginger" Stolzenberg; his children and step children Sandra Felice, Edward (Ted) Stolzenberg, Karen and Daniel Isakson, Edward "Ned" and Kathy Allen, Elizabeth and Roland Green, and John Allen; and his grandchildren Anthony and Amanda Felice, Timothy John "TJ" Stolzenberg, Kerry, Nicole, and Clare Isakson; 6 Step-grandchildren and a Great Grandchild. Frank also leaves his brother Arthur "Alan" and Jane Stolzenberg; his brothers-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. Frank was a retired Captain of the United States Air Force and worked for over 30 years at Aetna, retiring in 1987. He had served as President of the Connecticut Chapter of Red Cross, President of Fernleigh Lawn Bowling, President of the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) and Moderator of First Church of Christ West Hartford. Frank was also author and publisher of Alpha Sudoku in the Hartford Courant and AARP magazine and was a contributor in "A Bowl full of Memories, 100 years of football at The Yale Bowl." He was a lifelong athlete, with a special love for golf, and a devoted Yankees fan. The family is thankful to the staff for the loving care he received at Arden Courts of Avon, Hughes Health and Rehabilitation in West Hartford, and Masonicare Hospice. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the First Church of Christ Congregational, 12 South Main Street, West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Fernleigh Lawn Bowling Club PO Box 270422 West Hartford, CT 06127 or The American Red Cross. Frank was a good friend of many years. A good tennis opponent, too...even left handed! Friendly, personable, and always willing to lend a hand. He especially enjoyed his membership in The Old Guard.
