Bertha Levesque Reuss, 87, died peacefully on January 11, 2019. She was born on November 3, 1931 in Frenchville, ME, daughter of Arthur and Caroline (Dionne) Fongemie. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 32 years, Ralph Reuss. She had lived and worked in New Britain, Newington, and South Windsor and was a member of St. Mary's Church, South Windsor.Bertha was kind, gentle, giving, loving, a helper, and a good friend. She retired as an accountant at age eighty and previously retired from 42 years of public service with the State of Connecticut, working many years at the Public Utilities Commission, the Comptroller's Office and CCSU. She served as a Volunteer Tour Guide at the State Capitol for many years. Her passion to meet other people and experience other cultures led her to visit over fifty countries on five continents. She visited forty-nine State Capitols, many on long motorcycle trips with her husband Ralph. Her kind and helping nature kept her up late many nights preparing tax returns for clients.Bertha is survived by her son Larry Levesque and daughter-in-law Carol Montesi of Unionville, daughter- in- law Judi Levesque of New Britain, her first husband Armand Levesque, stepdaughters Barbara Strielkauskas and husband Paul of North Carolina, Cheryl Jennings of Vernon, and stepson Eric Reuss and his wife Jennifer of Tolland; her sisters, Leona Mollenhauer of NY, Norma Scarfe of Kensington, Viola Brown of Everett, WA, and brother Roger Fongemie of Phoenix, AZ; eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Bertha was predeceased by her son Gerald Levesque, brothers Richard, Clifford and Gerald Fongemie.Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor on Wed., Jan. 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. (Please meet directly at church).Bertha will be lovingly laid to rest in Center Cemetery, Main St., South Windsor.
