BILOKUR, Professor Borys Professor Borys Bilokur, 73, of Mansfield Center, died Saturday morning, (November 19, 2005), at the Windham Hospital in Willimantic, after a courageous fight with cancer. He was born Borys Maximovich Bilokur on November 30, 1931, in Ukraine. After coming to the United States with his family, he served in the U.S. Army, then attended Temple University and the University of Illinois, where he earned his doctorate and began his teaching career. He taught Russian Language and Literature at the University of Connecticut from 1967 until his retirement. His interests were Russian poetry, East European studies and independent language instruction. He was a passionate collector of most anything, including antique Jaguar automobiles. He is survived by his wife Lida Skilna Bilokur and sons, André and Mark; his brother, Anatol Bilokur; and his grandchildren (through André and his wife Patricia Bittner) Max Borys, Lida Claire and Henrietta Rose. An informal memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, December 10th, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Snyder, 22 Buckingham Rd., in Mansfield, at 1 p.m., followed by refreshments from 2-5 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
