Elizabeth Kunkler Pomponio Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty" (DuHaime) Kunkler, Pomponio of Bristol, a former Wolcott resident, widow of Anthony F. Kunkler and Nicholas Pomponio, died May 17th, 2017 at Solaris - Vitas Hospice Care, Merritt Island, Florida. Betty was born in Bristol on November 2, 1922 and was a daughter of the late Henry E. and Etiennette (Daveluy) DuHaime. She resided in Bristol before moving to Wolcott 53years ago and then back to Bristol in 2008. Betty was always full of life, loved natures beauty and she was loved by many. She was an artist, a florist and a prolific painter for which she won several first-place ribbons at juried art shows. For over twenty years, she was the owner of Betty's Flowers and Gifts in Wolcott and Prospect; Betty is survived by two sons and two daughters, Thomas Anthony Kunkler and daughter-in-law Marie Dolce Kunkler of Cape Canaveral, FL, Gloria (Kunkler), Rinaldi, Boutin and son-in-law Michael Boutin of Sunrise, FL; Dennis Lee Kunkler of Cape Coral, FL; and Paula (Kunkler) Lavorgna of Horizon City, TX; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild and thirteen nieces and nephews. Betty is also survived by Nicholas Pomponio's children Michael Pomponio and his wife Rosemary of Citrus Springs FL and Linda (Pomponio) Swirski of Oakdale, CT along with three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to Betty's parents and husbands, Betty was predeceased by her son, Robert Louis Kunkler of San Antonio, TX; three brothers, Albert DuHaime, Raoul DuHaime and Eugene DuHaime of Bristol; and three sisters, Theresa Clayton, Jeannette Muszynski and Betty Mosher. Memorial donations may be made to Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). A memorial mass will be held at St. Gregory's Church August 7th in Bristol, CT. for family and friends. A reception following the mass will be held at Nuchies Restaurant in Forestville, CT.
