Felix Rappaport Obituary

Felix David Rappaport of Las Vegas, Nevada, 65, was called to eternal rest on Monday, June 18, 2018, in Mashantucket, CT. He died from heart related illness. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Louise Rappaport; his two loving daughters, Alexandra Rappaport and Briana Rappaport; and his brother, Eric Rappaport. It is fitting that Felix was raised in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia, as he demonstrated love and kindness to everyone he encountered. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, Felix began his long and illustrious career in the Gaming and Hospitality Industry, from Human Resources at the Sands Hotel, Atlantic City, to VP/President of multiple Las Vegas properties, to CEO of Foxwoods Resort Casino.Felix had vivacity for life and he shared this passion with everyone in his world. He recognized the talents and the strengths in everyone he met and did whatever he could to support people to be their very best. He truly respected and acknowledged the worth of every individual with whom he came in contact. To Felix, each person mattered. Anyone who has ever known or worked with Felix will miss him and his gift of making everyone realize how important they truly are. A lifelong learner, Felix was an avid reader whose in-depth knowledge about many topics made him like a human search engine for his friends and family. Spanning his entire life, he was a loving and loyal fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. Earlier this year, he was blessed to have attended Super Bowl LII, in which his Eagles won. Although his interests were many and varied the most important to him were "Faith, Family & Friends". His dedication to them was shown in immeasurable ways. He made it his life's work to enhance the lives of his family and friends, whether it was through small gestures like giving a simple yet thoughtful gift or through large gestures like providing someone with an opportunity that launched their careers. Most important to Felix were his daughters. He loved involving them in almost every aspect of his life and would do anything to make their lives complete.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, Friday, June 22, at 2:00pm at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick, 213 Broadway, Norwich, CT. At a later date, Felix will be laid to rest in a private graveyard ceremony in Philadelphia.Felix's generosity was unsurpassed. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of his favorite charities; Wounded Warriors, The Johnny Crisstopher Charitable Children's Foundation or The Cleveland Clinic.

Many years ago a Jewish Rabbi, serving at a Family Funeral mentioned that "in his religion the individual is not gone as long as he or she is remembered." Its been three years now since Felix' passing! I will never forget his care and concern for others and the most positive attitude I have ever encountered! Felix has been and will remain my model for living life well and caring for fellow humans!

I was honored to have have worked with Felix and crossed his path. I do not feel its a coincidence to meet certain people; they cross our path for a reason. Felix was an amazing speaker and genuinely took an interest in you. Was he demanding absolutely! He was an amazing mentor and I remember when I had to speak in public and stumbled; I felt so overwhelmed and he was patient and not critical said to me speak from the heart you will never fail. I have never ever forgotten that. He recognized you for your hard work and would go out of his way to ensure you were acknowledged. We all have our faults but the one thing I always will remember he truly wanted you to succeed. I remember that he would say you need to get out of your comfort zone and take a position that would make you grow. I was blessed to have to Met him because of his influence I have grown. He was an unbelievable mentor and a kind human being. He will be missed .

I met Felix in the book section of a shop in the Toronto Airport at the End of August/2017. I believe I put my coffee down in front of a book he wanted to look at. We then had a lovely but brief conversation and somehow it was significant for me and I always remembered it. We talked about our love for reading and exchanged book suggestions. However, what I remembered the most was that he was so kind to a complete stranger. He was clearly in a hurry, but he took time to encourage me and bless my dreams. He gave me his business card and invited me to enjoy a few days at Foxwoods with friends If I wanted. We exchanged a number of emails up until the end of November, and although the dates didn't work out for a fall visit, I was planning to be in touch with him recently, when I received the news of his passing. There was so much more I wanted to ask him and learn from him at that Foxwoods visit I was supposed to have. I respected him from the moment he introduced himself that late summer day in an Airport. I'm encouraged to know how well loved he was, and to hear about the charities that he was so fond of. I'm sad that our paths didn't cross again in his lifetime, but encouraged that we may meet again in the next, and continue the conversation...God Bless, Tanya HQ

Felix Rappaport was the kind of President of various properties that made the employee's as important as the stock holder's. He made time to listen to everyone, every property, and made life easier for most of the employee's working with him. I was lucky to share some office space with him for many years and he always was in a good mood and had a great warm smile! I could hardly breathe when I looked up at the tv and his face and name was indicating his sudden death. Anyone who crossed his path will wish him to RIP, as he was so busy in life!.

Louise, Alex and Bri. I am simply devastated with the loss. Whenever I think of him, I think of the great times we had together. I picture his face and hear his voice when he would talk about you. He would perk up, his face would brighten, he would stand tall with pride, say your names with joy, tell me what you are all up to and expressed his endless love for you! I will forever remember him in that way, as a colleague, friend and as our hero. He was so proud of you and bragged about you all the time. Simply the best is just not enough to describe him, but it is how I will remember him. From my family to yours, our deepest sympathies on your loss. Lots of thoughts, prayers and love to all of you during the difficult time.
