Fouad Ferris Obituary

Fouad "Fred" G. Ferris, 86, of Middletown was taken from us by COVID-19 on March 28. He was born October 25, 1934, the son of hardworking Lebanese immigrants Edward and Shafeeca Ferris. Fred leaves behind his loving wife, Jeanne "Yenna" and their 3 adored Wheaten Terriers, daughters Kathleen Ferris of Holland, Pennsylvania, Sandy Hart and her husband Mike and granddaughter Samantha of Old Saybrook, and granddaughter Shelby Hart and her fiancé, Ian McCauley of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Fred is survived by his beloved sister Alice Fixer of Winsted and many wonderful nieces and nephews who always brought joy to him at the family outings. He was pre-deceased by his brother Wadia "Eddie" Ferris and sisters, Helen Skype, Rose Byrne and Evelyn Huot. Born and raised in Winsted, Fred graduated from The Gilbert School and Bryant College. He sang in a quartet called The Four Roses and was known for his theater and dancing skills during his school years. He made a career in the field of Human Resources at Waring Products, Achenbach Realty and retired as Director of Human Resources with the CT Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services. He was active throughout his life with numerous charitable and Democratic organizations, including the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Church and proudly served as Town Chairman of the Winchester Democratic Town Committee. Fred will be remembered by many as someone who helped prepare them for their first job interview and was always happy to help with career advice when asked. He was an avid golfer and member of the Stanley Golf Course and enjoyed playing poker, pool and the ponies. Fred's passion for close to 50 years was his involvement in the sport of dogs. Specifically, Scottish Terriers, West Highland White Terriers and Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers. Fred was an American Kennel Club (AKC) licensed Judge since 1979 and judged in Europe, South America, and Canada in addition to the United States. A particular favorite was judging the World Dog Show in Milan, Italy. He was President, Show Chair, Chief Steward, and on the Board of Directors of various dog clubs over the years and served as an AKC Delegate. Fred will be dearly missed but his imprint will live on in the many family and friends he loved, encouraged, helped, entertained and had fun with throughout his life. A private mass for family will be held in Winsted, CT at St. Joseph Church on April 28 with a graveside gathering for family and friends immediately following at noon at the St. Joseph New Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Maasser Annual Reunion Association, 73 Highview Drive, Harwinton, CT, Take the Lead www.takethelead.org or the SCWTCA Endowment www.wheatenhealthendowment.org.

Very Sad News to hear. My thoughts and prayers go out to Fred’s Family and Friends. I knew Fred from up at Stanley Golf Course playing in a couple Groups and the mens Club and was always nice to me and had fun when we did get a chance to play. RIP Fred,
