Obituary Condolences

Gay Amaio, 87, of Farmington, widow of Albert J. Amaio, Sr., died Sunday (May 13, 2012). She was born in Newport, VT, daughter of the late Eugene and Eveline Ponton. Gay and her family moved to Hartford where she met her husband Albert. Eventually they settled in Farmington where they raised their family. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years with the Suburban Gal Store. Gay was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of Westwoods Golf Club, Farmington. She was also very talented with her hands, knitting, crocheting and stenciling were just some of her many hobbies. She is survived by her daughter Kathryn L. Amaio, Farmington, and her son Albert J. "Skip" Amaio, Jr. and his wife Lisabeth Battaglio of Vernon. She also leaves a sister Helene Lindsay of Manchester and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by a son Michael Amaio, a brother, Armand Ponton, and two sisters, Paulette Bennet and Louise Guica.
Visiting hours will be held at the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke., Wethersfield, Wednesday, May 16, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a funeral service immeditely following at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Farmington. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Hwy, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
