Harold G. "Gil" Jordan Obituary
Harold G. "Gil" Jordan, 91, was called peacefully to eternal life on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, surrounded by the love of his family at Hartford Hospital. Born on May 6, 1927, he was the son of the late Harold & Irene (Gilman) Jordan. He was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy and served our country with great pride during WWII in the United States Army. Gil and Arlene (Schroer) Jordan were married on Valentine's Day 1953, sharing 65 years together while raising three children. Prior to retirement, he had been employed as a photolithographer with Connecticut Printers, giving nearly 40 years of dedicated service. His passion for photography captured the joy of all family gatherings. Gil will especially be remembered for his love of trains and the Boston Red Sox…Fenway Park has lost one of its most dedicated fans. Besides his parents, his sister Nancy Manning, and his brother Robert Jordan, he was predeceased by his beloved Arlene on July 16, 2018. Left to honor and cherish his memory are his children, Linda Dalidowitz and husband Paul of Newington, Paul Jordan and Angela Mezzanotte of Glastonbury, and Thomas Jordan and wife Kim of York, PA; grandchildren, Sarah Dalidowitz Sarne (Andrew), Ryan Dalidowitz, Paul M. Jordan, Jennifer Coolbeth (Kenny), Joshua Jordan (Hannahrose), Kristen Mekulsia (Andy), Nicole Platts (Dan), Nathan Jordan (Hannah), six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. His life and funeral will be celebrated on Saturday, October 13, at 11:00 AM at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave, Newington. Interment will follow at West Meadow Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call for visitation prior to the service on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Newington Memorial. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be directed to the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
