John Francis Dennehy, 93, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully March 2, 2019 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford on November 5, 1925, the son of the late John F. Dennehy Sr. and Catherine (Moonan) Dennehy. John was educated in local schools and after graduating from Hartford High School enlisted in the United States Navy. John honorable served his country as merchant marine and was a proud WWII Veteran. He was a longtime member and Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Raymond B. McHugh Post 4740 in Windsor. John was a car and Mack Truck salesman eventually retiring from Hartford Mack Trucks. Mr. Dennehy was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Bloomfield. John was a very social person, he enjoyed hunting, skiing, bowling, playing cards at the VFW with friends, golf, boating and working on cars.He is survived by his two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas and Laurie Dennehy of Enfield, and Robert Dennehy of Henniker, NH; two grandchildren, Kyle and his girlfriend Jennifer Russo and Kasey Dennehy; nephews, Richard Ruff and his wife Pauline of West Hartford, John and David Krar both of Glastonbury, Robert Walsh of Old Lyme, his close friends, Michael Scavetta, Michael Inkel, and Glen Drewry, Jr.; as well as many grand nieces, grand nephews, great grand nieces and great grand nephews. He was the brother of the late Kathleen Ruff, Bridget Krar, Helen Dennehy and Thomas Dennehy. He was predeceased by his wife Clara E. (Sweet) Dennehy who died October 11, 2003. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 6:00PM till 9:00PM at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave. Windsor CT, 06095. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10AM at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield, CT 06002. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, in Willimantic, CT. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of John may be made to Raymond B. I think he was a good friend of my dad, George Sinon who passed in 2005. If it is the same John, I have fond memories as a child with him and my dad at Shaker Farms CC in MA. RIP.
