HARVEY, Kevin Michael

Kevin Michael Harvey, 57, passed away peacefully on January 26th in the loving arms of his wife Esther (Philippon) Harvey of Wolcott, and children Meghan and her husband Jim Roscoe of Seymour, Keith Harvey of Southington, and Shannon Harvey of Wolcott, at The Alzheimer's Resource Center of Connecticut. He was born to Linnette (Hillary) and James Harvey on November 26, 1954. Kevin was raised in Darien, a 1972 graduate of Darien High School where he was a member on the wrestling team. Kevin furthered his education at Central Connecticut State University, majored in Business and then received his Masters in Business from the University of Connecticut. Kevin had a love of sports whether playing or watching but nothing compared to the pride and joy when watching his own children play. Kevin coached in house and travel basketball, softball, as well as the Willie Mays baseball team in Wolcott. He was an avid UConn Huskies, Baltimore Orioles, and Indianapolis Colts fan. Kevin had a passion for reading, specifically about the Civil War and history. Kevin's priority was his family and it showed in every aspect of his life. Kevin was a kind, gentle, caring, giving, and loving husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend. He also leaves behind a brother Stephen and his wife Leslie Harvey of Seattle, WA, their children Jeremy and Laura Harvey; a sister Karen and her husband Victor Racaniello, and son Sean of Darien as well as the entire Philippon family, Odie, Bruce, Sarah, Joe, Paula, Pete, Lauren, Caitlin, Carol, Michael, Brian, Andrea, Paul, Chris, Kayla, and Peter. Kevin also leaves behind a magnitude of friends that truly signifies the person that he was. Kevin was loved dearly. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of 2B who's care, dedication, love and friendship helped us to endure this most difficult of situations.

Kevin was someone to look up to. I will always remember him as kind, clever, energetic and forever smiling. Kevin was an amazing athlete and I had the pleasure of spending many Thanksgiving mornings playing football with him, none of us wanted to cover him; he was too fast, could cut, stop and start on a dime and at 10 years older than the rest of us, he was always a top draft pick when choosing teams.

Kevin exhibited the qualities of a wonderful father, bringing the kids along as soon as they were old enough to tolerate the 2 hour games we'd play on those cold November mornings. Kevin had humility and I know that he had to be brave to endure what he ultimately had to face in his final years.

Esther, Meghan, Keith and Shannon, the care and support you and the rest of your family gave Kevin and one another, along with the love that you all share, is an inspiration and a true example of what it is to be a family. My heart goes out to you and the entire family. Kevin was loved and will be missed.

I wish you all peace of mind and heart.

We will always remember Kevin first and foremost as a wonderful husband, father, and friend. His terrific smile warmed up the entire room. Kevin's teammates on the Tokeneke Warriors football team could always rely on Kevin's athletic ability and at the same time his great sense of humor to make any game situation better for the rest of us. I am honored to call Kevin my teammate and friend.

It was a pleasure being with Kevin at the family gatherings. He always had a smile and genuinely enjoyed our company. I know it has been a struggle, but he was blessed with having Esther and his entire family supporting him. May he rest in peace knowing he will see those who love him again one day.
