Luciano Piccione Obituary
Luciano Piccione, 93, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Laura (Colonna) Piccione, entered the arms of the Lord on Sunday, October 28, 2018. He was born on January 27, 1925, in Brooklyn, NY; son of the late John and Angela (Spatola) Piccione. Luciano proudly served his country in the Army during World War II. He served in the Battle of the Bulge, European African Middle Eastern Campaign and Crossing of the Rhine (Operation Plunder) and receiving numerous medals for his dedication and hard work. He worked at Combustion Engineering as a design engineer for 39 years. Lou was a member of the South Windsor American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Serra Club and Sacred Heart Men's Club and Choir. He was a Brooklyn Dodgers' fan, then a Mets fan. When he moved to Connecticut in 1960, he became an avid Boston Red Sox fan and passed away watching their winning game on Sunday. He enjoyed golfing and participating in several bowling leagues over the years. In addition to his beloved wife of 70 years he is survived by Angela Gizinski (Gerard) of Wilmington, DE, Lucretia Fanning (Philip) of South Windsor, Irene Resnisky (Andrew) of Glastonbury, and Laura Steele (Richard) of Seattle, WA; five grandchildren, Kristen Fanning Costello (Tom), Megan Fanning Rapone (John), Rachel Resnisky (Fiancé Chris Vandale), Andrea and Melissa Resnisky; three great-grandchildren, Jack, Luke, and Sloane Costello; a brother, John Piccione (Linda) of Yorktown Heights, NY; two sisters, Mary Massa of Long Island, NY and Jean Lucania (John) of Windham, NY, sister in law Stephanie Piccione of Brooklyn and brother in law Bill Chayter, of Louisiana as well as several nieces andnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018, 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield. His family will receive friends on Friday, prior to the Mass at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield, CT 06002 and/or , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
