Marjorie was a dear friend and one of the nicest people I ever met. I had the pleasure of meeting her as a member of the Ludington Mariner Base Ball Club. She was our best fan EVER. ! She enjoyed coming to the games and talking with all of the players and fans. My life was better for knowing her.

I grew up next door to 'Mrs. Butcher' and loved taking care of her cat, George. I have MANY fond memories of talking with her at length about life and whatever else popped into our heads. My mom and I liked to visit her and even recently she still had her great smile and warmness. We miss her and send our sympathy to her family. Marjorie Butcher was a longtime friend and Overseer of Old Sturbridge Village. She was a frequent visitor and loved walking the village with her husband. Her love of music brought her to its concerts especially those involving the antique organ in the Meeting House. In turn, she introduced many at the Village to organ recitals given at the Trinity College chapel. We join the many who will miss her.

Mrs Butcher was a neighbor when I was growing up as well as my professor at Trinity. She was a trailblazer when math in higher education was very much a man's world. How she loved Math! She's get so excited explaining things that she'd run her fingers through her short hair - and by the end of class it was sticking up all over the place! I vividly remember the blizzard in 1978 when the CT state roads were closed. She walked from West Hartford to Trinity and we had class (for hours since there were no other classes). She was a tough teacher and we spent hours preparing for her classes. Still she always had a soft spot for her students and kept up with them for years. She helped me get my job in the Actuarial Department at The Hartford starting as an intern. My sympathy to all of you.
