Michael C. Zawada Obituary

Michael C. Zawada, 67, of Bloomfield, beloved husband of Linda J. (Laiuppa) Zawada, passed away on February 21, 2018 at Saint Francis Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Hartford, CT on April 26, 1950, son of the late Samuel and Harriet Jane (Messenger) Zawada, and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1968. Michael attended the University of Connecticut where he majored in English before going to work for the Town of Bloomfield. Michael retired from the Town of Bloomfield in 2001 and following his retirement worked part time at Johnson's Lawn Service. He loved to mow his lawn and work outdoors. In his youth Michael was a talented athlete who lettered in three sports, basketball, baseball, and football. He was a happy person who enjoyed visiting Cape Cod with his wife Linda and spending quality time at home with his beloved four-legged kids, Shannon and Zippee. Michael is survived by his wife, Linda J. (Laiuppa) Zawada of Bloomfield; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Laiuppa of Bloomfield, Barbara Meeker and her husband Bill of Colbrook, and Mary Laiuppa of Bloomfield; a brother-in-law, Paul Laiuppa of Granby; four nephews, Michael Laiuppa of Simsbury, David Laiuppa, Joey Saleh, and Jordan Saleh, all of Bloomfield; five nieces, Karen Laiuppa of Arizona, Katie Attenello of South Windsor, Sue Laiuppa Vernale of Granby, Noelle Saleh of Norwich, and Jenna Saleh of Bloomfield as well as several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Bruce Zawada; a sister-in-law, Judith Laiuppa; and a brother-in-law, Richard Laiuppa. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield with interment immediately following in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. His family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 4-7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield. Carmon Windsor Funeral Home has care of his arrangements.
