SMITH, Norman Thomas Norman Thomas "Skippy" Smith, 81, passed away April 24, 2010 in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was born February 19, 1929, the son of the late Charles and Vera (Patterson) Smith. Norman survived the Hartford Circus fire in 1944, and later served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After graduating from the University of Hartford Ward School Of Technology, he resided in West Hartford, where he owned and operated Tip Top Television Inc. Sales and Service on Park Rd for 40 years. He enjoyed his summers at Highland Lake in Winsted, CT, and after retiring he enjoyed traveling around our beautiful country, Mexico and Canada in his Winnebago. Norman was one of the original founders of Telsa of Hartford and was always proud of his Connecticut Television License No.10. He also served as East Coast Vice President of N.E.S.D.A and enjoyed being a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Jaycees and Rotary of West Hartford. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor Griffin Smith, and his children, Marilee (Allan) Dabkowski, Maggie (Ed) Furstein, and Peter Smith; eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Norman T. Smith, Jr. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday (June 8, 2010) at St. Peter Claver Church 47 Pleasant St., West Hartford. Memorial donations may be made in Norman's memory to Cure P.S.P. Executive Plaza, 11350 McCormack Rd, Suite 906, Hunt Valley, MD 21031. Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Homes & Crematory Port Charlotte, Florida.
