Pando PRIFTI Obituary


Pando Prifti, 95, of Southwick, MA, died in his home on Wednesday, (May 9, 2012). Pando was a farmer, machinist, athlete and dancer. Pando was born in West Granville, MA in 1917, to the late Theodore and Sophia Prifti. He was a brother to the late Nuchi Prifti and Sandra Lano. He was educated in Southwick schools and graduated from Westfield High School in 1935. He worked as a machinist for Van Norman Tool Co., for 17 years, then operated a dairy farm for 45 years and drove a school bus for the town of Southwick for 22 years. He played basketball for the town and several area teams while at Van Norman and played in a Triple-A league, where he led the league in scoring and was voted by the coaches to the All-Star Team. He served as Vice President on the Board of Directors for the Southwick Rec. Center and coached baseball and basketball. Upon retirement, Pando became an avid ballroom dancer and operated ballroom dances in Windsor Locks, CT, for 19 years. He leaves behind his four children, Lee Ann Prifti of California, Janis Prifti of Massachusetts, Theodore Prifti and his wife Joan of Kentucky and David Prifti and his wife Melissa of Simsbury, CT; two grandchildren, Dana and Alex Prifti of Simsbury, CT; his companion, Shirley Todd of Torrington, CT; three nephews, Greg and Steve Lano and Donald Prifti and his cousins, Paul and Basel Prifti. Besides his parents and siblings, he was also predeceased by his cousin, Melvin Prifti.
