Peter Hugo Antonius Oltheten Obituary
Peter Hugo Antonius Oltheten, 61, of West Hartford, passed away on January 14, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born in East Java, Indonesia and was raised in Bloomfield, CT. He was a 1975 graduate of Bloomfield High School and a 1979 graduate of Central Connecticut State College with a BS in Manufacturing Technology. He received a graduate degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Hartford. Peter had a fulfilling career at Pratt & Whitney before Parkinson's forced his retirement. He was diagnosed at a young age and became a strong advocate for Parkinson's disease research. Peter was mechanically inclined and loved working on cars, houses and could fix just about anything. He was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan, enjoyed sports, music and dancing. Peter loved to share his gifts and talents and was known for his positive attitude, his infectious smile, and his compassionate spirit. He cherished time with his family and friends and always brought us smiles and happiness. Peter was preceded in death by his mother Martina B. Oltheten and his brother-in-law Robert A. Schreiner. He is survived by his father Joseph Oltheten of Vernon; his brothers, Joseph H. Oltheten and wife Helen of Elliottsburg, PA, Raymond Oltheten and wife Penni of Madison, AL; his sisters, Maria Oltheten of Vernon, Yvonne Schreiner of Boston, MA, Christine Jones and husband Kenny of Hampstead, NC, Edie Baj and husband Marty of South Windsor; his nieces and nephews, Julie Oldham and husband Will and their children Isabel, Emily, and Mackenzie; Rob Schreiner and wife Erika, Lisa Bakaysa and husband Joey and their children Keegan and Sydney; Stephen Schreiner and wife Ana, Erika Jones, Kevin Jones and fiancée Marilyn DeSesa, Stephanie Baj and fiancé David Koski, Michelle Baj; and many friends that his life has touched, a blessing to us all. His family will receive friends on Monday, January 21 from 5-8 pm at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave, Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 22 at 10 am at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave, Bloomfield, followed by burial in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd, Bloomfield. The family invites friends to a reception back at the church hall following the burial.
