KENT, Robert C.
Robert C. Kent, 60, passed away Wednesday, (March 28, 2012) at his home in Fairbanks. He had just retired from the Laborers Local 942, and Golden Valley Electrical Association six months ago. He leaves behind a daughter, Brittney Kent of Cle Elum, WA; and her daughter Paris. He also leaves behind three brothers and two sisters, Paul Kent and girlfriend Anita Kettle of CT, Mari Beth LaBrosse and husband Daniel of Fairbanks, Thomas Kent and wife Denise of Fairbanks, John Kent and wife JoAnn of CT and Carol Gustamachio and husband Steve of CT. He was born Feb. 16, 1952 in Harford, CT to Robert and Elizabeth Kent. As the oldest of six children, he led the way with practical jokes and getting into trouble. He was known for his great sense of humor. He once lied to his English teacher in High School that he was sleeping in her class because he had to work to help support the family. He got away with it and for a while until his mother, the PTA President found out. Sleeping in class was no longer allowed. He grew up in East Hartford, CT and graduated from Penney High School. Bob drove to Alaska in 1973 with Mark Malin and Mark Blessley to meet up with Dwight Fenn and began work on the pipeline. He was generous with his time, money and would help anyone in need. After visiting his daughter and granddaughter in Seattle recently, he gave up his first class seat to a soldier returning from Iraq. His kind spirit will be missed by all who knew him. He loved taking his daughter Brittney along with his nieces and nephew camping, fishing, jet skiing at Harding Lake and barbequing. His favorite pastime was attending baseball games with many friends and family joining in the fun. He especially loved the Boston Red Sox, Seattle Seahawks and the Alaska Gold Panners. He leaves behind his best friends Kenny Myers, Gary Stewart, Pat McArdle and Dwight Fenn. The highlight of his life was the cherished memories of his beautiful granddaughter Paris, who he bragged about to everyone.
A Celebration of life will be held Friday, April 6, 2012 at 6 p.m. at the Elk's Club. Arrangements were entrusted to Fairbanks Funeral Home.

to the whole kent family,
i grieve with you...
bobby was one of our 'original o'connell school gang. i can picture him like it was yesterday, riding bikes in gorman park. one of the most gentle, kind souls from my childhood past. i see his smile and the twinkle in his eye. may he rest in peace and may you find some comfort knowing he is in the hearts of the lives he touched, so many years ago...

To Paul, Tom, Mary Beth, John, and Carol, I am very sorry to hear of your brother's passing. Even though it has been over 40 years since I last saw my old friend, his kind smile - with a slight tilt of his head - is what I remember the most. Sincerely, Dennis Leal

Our condolences go out to the Kent family. While we did not know Robert, we were friends with Tom and Denise. Our prayers are with you at this time of sadness.
