Theodore F. "Ted" Meigs II Obituary
Theodore Fordham (Ted) Meigs II, 77, of Bristol CT passed away peacefully at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT on January 12, 2019. Born in New Haven, CT on April 16, 1941, he was the son of the late Gordon Meigs and Wilhemina Clifford Meigs. Ted spent his formative years in Chattanooga, TN, where he graduated from high school. He settled in Southington, CT where he and his former spouse raised his son and daughter. In the 1960s, he served in the Connecticut Air National Guard. He was employed at Sears, Roebuck & Co. in West Hartford for 46 years, and had a love for the outdoors, automobiles, and electronics. Ted was a jack-of-all-trades and an intrepid entrepreneur, breeding dogs and a variety of fish and birds. He successfully showed his beloved dogs for many years. More recently, Ted enjoyed researching his Irish and English heritages and was an active genealogist helping others in his extended family across the United States. He also cherished the time he spent building a race car and fishing with his son, visiting with his brother, and watching UConn Women's basketball games.Ted will be missed for his true courage and character while dealing with the most challenging aspects of his life. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Meigs of Farmington, his daughter and son-in-law Deborah and Kenneth Bibbins and granddaughter Mikayla Bibbins of Simsbury, and his sister-in-law Cindy Meigs of Bristol. He was predeceased by his brother, Gordon Meigs, Jr. Special thanks from the family to Dr. Wylie Hosmer of the Hartford Healthcare Cancer Institute and the caregivers at Hartford Healthcare at Home. Memorial donations to honor Ted may be sent to the . Honoring Ted's wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately.
