Vincent "Vinny" Michael D'Atri passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on November 6th 2018 at the age of 78. Born in Hartford, CT on June 9th 1940, he was the son of the late Vincent "Jimmy" D'Atri and Mary Katherine Sundas. During his childhood years, Vinny spent time growing up in Naugatuck and Farmington, CT. He later graduated from Canton High School before serving in the U.S. Army from 1963-1964. He resided in Canton with his wife, Olive Atkinson D'Atri of 59 years where they raised their two daughters, Kim and Christina. Many have known Vinny from his days as co-owner of Village Hardware in the 1970s, where he developed his career centered around the hardware industry. He was also known for meticulously caring for his vehicles and had perfected the hunt for the "ding" free parking spot. Vincent's passion for motorhomes and traveling prompted him and his wife to explore locations all throughout the U.S., where they made an abundance of memories with their "camping buddies." He equally enjoyed spending summers at "the cottage" on West Hill Lake with friends and family. Here he loved to enjoy an ice-cold beer while watching the Yankees game, go swimming, as well as take a spin in his inflatable boat. More than anything else, he loved a good meal surrounded by family, especially on a summer night at the lake. He is survived by his devoted wife, Olive Atkinson D'Atri. He also leaves behind his two daughters, Kim D'Atri Trumbull and son-in-law, Kevin of New Hartford, as well as daughter, Christina D'Atri Zuccaro of Canton. In addition, he is survived by his four adored grandchildren: Ashley and Morgan Trumbull, and Brandon and Taylor Zuccaro. He was loved by his sister, Frances Fischer of Houston, TX, as well as his niece, nephews and many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at Avon Old Farms Hotel on November 18th from 2:00-5:00 p.m. At 2:30 p.m., Cousin and Father Gary Gelfenbein will lead us in a brief commemoration of Vincent's life. Family and friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to honor the American Parkinson's Disease Association or the Dementia Society of America.

So sorry for your loss. I have good memories of Mr. D'Atri from from growing up. He always asked about our adventures around Collinsville in the summer and smiled when we told him at least some of what we did :) thinking of you all.
