Avrum Robert (Bob) Bloomstone Obituary

Robert (Bob) Bloomstone formally of West Hartford passed away on Wednesday, July 23rd with his daughter Ilene by his side. Born August 26, 1932 in Montreal Canada he was the devoted son of Ann and George Bloomstone. Bob attended University of Vermont which led him to CT where he met his wife of 47 years Lynda (Krechevsky) Bloomstone. After retirement Bob continued to work as he so lovingly cared for Lynda while she battled kidney disease. He fervently made sure that he would be out of work in time to pick her up from dialysis treatments, and give her the love and support that she especially needed on those days. Bob was a "true" father who always believed in his children and made them believe in themselves. In the 60's it was not uncommon for Bob to take Ann-Julie out of school to attend a Pirates game at Forbes Field under the guise of an afternoon medical appointment. Bob was an avid skier and enjoyed wonderful trips with Wendy to Canada, VT, and NH. As a avid sports fan, Bob enjoyed coaching his son and never missed a game. Attending the World Series, NHL All Star Game and Super Bowl with Rob were just a few cherished memories. Every trip to the grocery was a "Magical Mystery Tour" that always included one child. Traveling with Lynda to visit his daughters, son's and grandchildren in the South were moments he always looked forward to. Bob always enjoyed giving a good scratch or sneaking a bit of food off his dinner plate to his CT grand dogs, Cubby, Stella, and Trixie, and always wanted to hear how Pip, Dinah, Rufus, and Lucy were doing. Bob leaves behind his devoted children: Ann-Julie Bloomstone and Richard Oswald of Louisianna, Wendy and Steven Plourd of Georgia, Ilene Bloomstone and Robert Conner of Glastonbury, and Robert and Kimberly Bloomstone of Newington. Bob also leaves his loving grandchildren, Geoffrey and Ryan Plourd and Dylan, Quinn, and Tess Conner . Bob's family is eternally grateful to Dr. Jack Schmetterling and Sherri Goldberg and the Hartford Medical Group staff who cared for Bob's well being for many years, and most importantly treated him as family. Also thanks to Dr. Dariush Owila, Dr. Brett Duncan, and Dr. Roy Bebe. To honor of Bobs wishes, Funeral Services will be private. Donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or a . Already missed and never forgotten. Hebrew Funeral Association, West Hartford.
