Born in Hartford, he was the oldest son of William Brennan and Catherine Scully Cully. He served in the US Army as Master Sergeant of the 43rd Division Army Band. Bill was well known for his trombone playing with many big bands including the Gene Krupa, Guy Lombardo, Dean Hudson, Tony Pastor, Jimmy Farr and Left Bank Bands and mentored many trombonists throughout his career. He led his own band, The Bill Cully Orchestra in Richmond, VA in the 1960's. He especially enjoyed playing his trombone when his wife could join him as the dance band singer. He also worked many years in the insurance business. Bill's quick wit, sense of humor, and positive attitude endeared him to many, including those who lovingly cared for him these last few years whether at Lexington Medical Center, NHC of Lexington, or Harbison Hall Assisted Living. He loved his friends with a passion and there were many; his family is grateful for all the help they provided. He was a very devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
