Dear Mrs. Grothaus, I am so sorry to hear the news of Mr. Grothaus' passing. He was such a funny and warm person and the two of you had such a positive impact in the lives of those of us who got to spend time with you during our teenage years. I'll never forget how he taught Patrick and Peter smith to break in a door a la FBI agents. Great sense of humor and a great example to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Sending you lots of love. You're in my prayers xoxox

Maureen and Family,
Please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of your wonderful husband Bill. I knew Bill since the time of his arrival at the Hartford Resident Agency. He fit in like a glove with myself and his fellow agents. By his actions you knew he was a real friend and was easy to like and admire.
Heaven's gain is our loss. Bill was a true Christian gentle man in every way.

Maureen,
Sorry to hear about Bill. I always looked forward to the possibility that you and Bill would stop in at Pops when I came down to CT. His wit, coupled with a tremendous intellect, guaranteed that we would engage it some memorable discussion and banter! Will miss that.

Maureen, I speak on behalf of all of us at Leadership Greater Hartford who knew, respected and loved Bill. He was a very special person who was a true community leader in so many ways. He was a prime mover behind the renovation of Lozada Park in Hartford, which continues to be a safe and welcoming place for the families of Clay Arsenal neighborhood--just as he and his team from the Third Age Initiative envisioned it would be. He will be missed; all of our lives were enriched by his presence. May he rest in peace.

Fondly,
Doe Hentschel
