MANDILE, Francesco "Frank"

Francesco "Frank" Mandile, 71, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband for 46 years of Anna (DiPierro) Mandile, died suddenly on Sunday, (January 18, 2004) at Hartford Hospital. He was born August 14, 1932 in Stigliano province of Matera, Italy, and was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Angerame) Mandile. He retired six years ago from Abbott Ball Co. after over 30 years of dedicated service. More recently he worked for Big-Y Supermarket in Rocky Hill where he was a friend to all, young and old. Frank enjoyed gardening and making home made wine. He was a long time member of Mt. Carmel-St. Cristina Society, East Hartford. He enjoyed dancing and just being with his loving grandchildren who affectionately called him "Pop". Besides his loving wife, Anna, he is survived by a daughter, Maria Guglielmi and her husband, Panfilo of Rocky Hill; a son Antonio "Tony" Mandile and his wife, Cathy of Wethersfield; two sisters, Anna DiSisto and her husband, Nicola of Italy and Irene Castagno and her husband, Vincent of South Windsor; eight grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Derek, Alexa, Austen and Tessa Guglielmi and Frankie, Analissa, Juliana and Malena Mandile; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Franco and Maria Toscano of Italy; and nieces, nephews in the United States and Italy. He was predeceased by a sister, Caterina Mandile and a brother, Giuseppe Mandile. Funeral Service will be Thursday at 9 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. James Church, Rocky Hill. The burial is in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours are TODAY from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
