Norman Leo Liappes, 75, of Niantic and formerly of Hartford, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 1, 2017. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Leo and Helen (Aryslo) Liappes. He retired as a correctional officer for the State of CT. He served in the Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. Norman is survived by his brothers, Robert G. Liappes, Gus Liappes, and twin sister, Norma H. Liappes, and his nephews, Jay and James Liappes. He also leaves other nieces, nephews and cousins, several great nieces and nephews, and a great great niece and nephew. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 11:00am at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill, CT. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park. There will be a calling hour from 10:00-11:00am, just prior to the service.

I was very sad to hear about the news of Norman's passing. He was a patient of mine and friend. I'll always remember him as being kind and having a big heart. I enjoyed being his aide for almost two years. He will be greatly missed.
