Phyllis M. Wiers, 90, of Enfield, CT, widow of Irving Wiers, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017. Born in Boston, MA, to the late Simon and Helen P. Whittaker, Phyllis was raised on a small farm in Maine where she received an excellent education in a one room schoolhouse. Before her career as a mother she worked at Lorstans Studios in Newark, NJ tinting black and white photos. As a young military wife and mother she and her husband moved 21 times in just 13 years. Phyllis created love and warmth in each place they lived. Phyllis was an artist and loved to make her surroundings beautiful and bright at all times. Nothing was too much work for her. She would spend days making beautiful sugar Easter eggs for all of her friends and family. She spent weeks making gingerbread houses for us to deliver to all of the neighbors. She also delivered special foods for ailing neighbors or shared coffee with lonely friends. The world was a better place with Phyllis in it. People and animals, alike, were drawn to Phyllis because of her sweet nature. All who knew her loved her and all who knew her will carry her with them forever. Phyllis is survived by four children, Paul Wiers and his wife, Norma of Niagra Falls, NY, Marie Wiers and her partner, Robert Coroso of Tolland, CT, Ellen Mastroberti and her husband, Charles of Enfield, CT, and Teresa Vecchiarelli and her husband, Brian of Enfield, CT; 17 beloved grandchildren, Jenny, Valerie, Peter, Amy, Bonnie, Mary, Jemel, Erinn, Michael, James, Christie, Leah, Brian Jr., Kevin, Anna, Thomas, and David; 11 great-grandchildren, Hayley, Maggie, Lizzie, Jaimee, Grace, Scarlett, Jonah, Natalie, Zane, Jake, and Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. Phyllis was pre-deceased by a son, Irving ""Pete"" Wiers, Jr.; and two sisters, Alice Abrams and Arlene Bartels.
