Elizabeth "Doris" (Heck) Mottes, of Windham, NH and formerly of Stafford Springs, CT, was born on August 23, 1924 and died on January 7, 2018, as she always said she would, in her sleep. She didn't, however, expect to live to be 93. In spite of heart problems (2 heart surgeries, and heartache), she persisted. Her heart was broken when her daughter, Judy, age 9 died from leukemia, and again when she lost her husband of 54 years, Frank J. Mottes. Being raised by strong parents, Ernest B. Heck and Ellen E. (Dodge) Heck, of Wales, MA, and through her own coping skills, she learned to continue on. Doris worked with Frank as the bookkeeper for Frank J. Mottes Plumbing and Heating Co. on the Monson Rd. for more than 40 years. She was also employed at Stafford Printers, the Workers Federal Credit Union, and Johnson Memorial Hospital. Doris was a member of the Stafford Baptist Church, Stafford Senior Center, and Windham, NH Senior Center. Always lucky, she enjoyed the casinos, bingo, travel, and chocolate. Being an extrovert, she was often seen at Warde Rehabilitation Center activities, where she resided for the past 2 years. Staff and friends remember her as always smiling. Doris is survived by her daughter, Frannie (Mottes) Greenberg and her husband Michael of Windham, NH; her three granddaughters, Elysha, Kaylee, and Jaycie Greenberg; and many wonderful friends. Her brothers Norman and Ernest predeceased her. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 1:30-3:00 P.M., followed immediately by a funeral service at 3:00 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. She will be laid to rest at Stafford Springs Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, P.O.
