Helen Rawski, formerly of Rocky Hill, Connecticut, transitioned peacefully on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Having just celebrated her 96th birthday along with her identical twin sister, Gladys DeLisa, she was moved to the hospice facility where she was constantly surrounded by family. Helen was born in Hartford on January 15, 1922, to Mary and Joseph Maziarz, and spent the majority of her life in Rocky Hill. She was married to Stanley Rawski, a World War II Air Force veteran, for 60 years until his death in 2007. Stanley was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and the couple spent many winters together in Florida after his transfer to its West Palm Beach facility. Helen enjoyed cooking and sewing, and had been a long-time member of the St. James Women's Club. She always participated in the church's annual Strawberry Festival, where she became famous for her hand-made Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. She later joined the Stepney Seniors of Rocky Hill, and served as the club's secretary for several years. Helen also enjoyed bowling and evenings playing cards with her twin sister and friends. She is survived by her three daughters, Joyce, Barbara and Janet; three grandchildren, Michael and his wife Sarah, and his sisters Jennifer and Rebecca; and her great-granddaughter Willow. A funeral mass will be held at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish at St. James Church of Rocky Hill on February 9 at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at Rose Hill Memorial Park and a private family gathering in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation, www.dvnf.org., or St. Josephine Bakhita Parish of Rocky Hill.

Hello Janet, Joyce and Barbara. When I saw that your Mom has passed on I know we are saying goodbye to a special generation and that we were lucky to have them as parents. Of course I remember how meticulous and kind Helen was to me as a dorky teenager. Her priorities seemed old fashioned and clear: her family, her home, friends and her faith. She enjoyed simple things and did not mind having a supporting role for about everyone in her life. I remember your Dad just as fondly.
Take care and be blessed even now.
With love, Kate Smith Bissell

So many years ago, I was a child neighbor to Mr and Mrs Rawski. I remember them as quiet but friendly neighbors. May she be at peace.
