Warren Breeding Obituary

Captain Warren Patrick Breeding, 57, Professional Jet Pilot, Former USAF AWACS Captain and Veteran of Persian Gulf War, Desert Storm, has peacefully taken his last flight into eternity on this Christmas morning December 25th, 2018, with his loving Family and his yellow lab Kaylee by his side, at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers, Massachusetts.

He leaves behind his wife, Deborah Joan (nee Laws), their two loving sons William Patrick and Scott Alexander Breeding, and devoted dog Kaylee, who are all deeply saddened and devastated by his passing. He became a Resident of Gouldsboro, Maine, where he purchased a Vacation Home for his Family, near Acadia National Park on the Schoodic Peninsula, a place of great FUN and PEACE. He also recently lived in Amesbury, Massachusetts, close to where he went for cancer treatments in Newburyport and Boston. Prior to this, he lived in East Granby, Connecticut, and Parker, Colorado, and Plano, Texas, and Slidell, Louisiana, and Lagos, Nigeria and Houston, Texas where he was born.

Warren was a truly remarkable person, a very loving and devoted husband and father, and an exception professional pilot. He was an incredible cancer fighter, who fought and survived several hard battles with head and neck cancer. He was amazingly strong, brave, very courageous, defying odds several times.

He was a very private man, who never complained or asked for help for himself never wanted anyone to feel sorry for him, respected his own and others' privacy, but was always ready to help or serve others in need. He was inspired by and inspired so many people along his life journeys, with his strong passion for life, flying and family, his fearless nature, his honor to serve his country, and his fierce drive to survive his cancer battles and to return to work.

His devotion to both his personal family and work families were very evident, as well as his consistency as an exceptionally professional, skilled, respectful Jet Captain whose safety comes first attitude and love for his work was also obvious to all. He kept a sharp wit, intellect and sense of humor throughout.

He was a loving son to his late parents William Preston Breeding and Margaret Ann Breeding (nee Hunt) of Texas. Going by his middle name "Pat" during his childhood and schooling years, he lived an adventurous upbringing when his father's engineering career took their family exploring, traveling around and living in different parts of the world, such as Central America, the Middle East, Lybia, Egypt, and Africa. It was when his family lived in Lagos, Nigeria, where he attended the American International School that Pat became captivated by aviation at the young age of 9 years old. He never gave up chasing his Dream.

As a teenager, when his family moved to Louisiana, where he lived north of New Orleans and attended High School in Slidell, he sought his private pilot license. He also played football on the high school team, as tight end. He later worked off the Gulf of Mexico on an oil rig, and attended The University of Southern Louisiana for his bachelor degree in Computer Science and Lousiana Tech Univ for his Masters in Business Administration. He pursued pilot training in the US Air Force through ROTC and became an Air Force Officer. He demonstrated exceptional flying skills, and was very proud to serve his country, USA, as Jet Captain, and became an honorable Veteran of the Persian Gulf War, Desert Storm.

His Aviation colleagues refer to him as not only having consistent exceptional flying skills and ratings as a Military & Business Jet Pilot, he was also known as a "great stick" who always "greased it on! A consummate professional whose aircraft systems knowledge was second to none, he was gifted with remarkable memory whose very scientific brain could retain and recall every and any small detail of all aircraft systems instantly & permanently. He was a natural Leader as an Aviator. It was during his tenure in South East Asia, on his way home, that he met his Canadian Physiotherapist wife Debby on a beach in Thailand, while she was traveling around the world. They wrote many letters for months and began a long distance relationship when she returned to Vancouver. She later moved to Oklahoma City where he was stationed at Tinker Air Force base.

After serving his time in the USAF honorably, they married in New Orleans. He kept his hand in small plane Cessna and seaplane flying and instructing, while his thirst grew for more continued jet aircraft knowledge and experience. They moved to Dallas, Texas, where along with becoming a jet simulator instructor, he began his career in the corporate business jet aviation industry, attaining many type ratings in Lear, Hawker, Gulfstream, Challenger Global Express Jets. Their two boys were born back to back in Plano, Texas, and he became a very proud father.

He moved his Family from Texas to Colorado to Connecticut and from Pilot to Lead-Chief Pilot to Director of Aviation positions of several flight departments. He worked for companies such as Frito Lay, Gulf Oil Canada and Bombardier Aerospace, prior to his last decade working as a private jet captain and very proudly working for the last 5 to 6 years with Design Professionals.

He believed in living life to its fullest, having fun, finding something you really enjoy and love doing and are very good at, being the best you can be, and following your heart. He was a fan of quotes such as work hard play in life, and in safety comes first in aviation. He fostered the principles of integrity, responsibility, reliability, grit and honor. He lived an adventurous and wholesome life, was a world traveler, and a very proud Marriott Hotel Reward Point Platinum Elite member!

He was a skilled sportsman and avid athlete who loved hiking, golfing, boating of all types, especially waterskiing, wakeboarding and tubing from off of his powerboat on lakes with his famil. He became a great snowskiier in his 40's, enjoyed stunt kite and drone flying, loved playing baseball, basketball and ping pong with his sons, walking his dogs, was a handyman, a sci-fi book fan, great cook, former lover of spicy Cajun foods and all things Mardi Gras, became an expert smoothie and soup maker during his cancer battles, was an artist in woodworking and seaglass pictures, a children story teller-writer, a resident comedian, and a self-taught musician of piano and drums, and loved anything Star Trek, Scooby Doo and Star Wars. He also loved to watch action movies with his sons, tolerated chick flicks with his wife, would go on the most daring and scariest of roller coaster rides at all theme parks with his boys, loved to go dancing with his wife to see Savage Brothers' Band, listening to Jazz Music and also making puzzles, and watching Sunday football. He is a huge New Orleans Saints fan and really hoped that they would go to the Super Bowl in 2019.

He also leaves behind his brothers Steven Paul Breeding (sister-in law Patti, and niece Rita Marie), brother James David Breeding(sister-in-law Tiffany, Uncle to Tessa Lynn and Cara Nicolle), as well as his very caring and devoted Uncle Alan Hunt whom he has always been very fond of, and his wife Kathy, of Houston, Texas. He was a most beloved cousin to Regann Hunt-Royster of Tennassee, (and to the late Randy & Leah Hunt), and to Nathan Hunt of Texas.

He is also survived by his loving mother-in-law Margaret Elizabeth Laws (nee Dehler) of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (also known as Grandma Margaret, who he dearly loved and called an ANGEL, with whom he always thoroughly enjoyed sharing many long interesting and very intellectual conversations particularly about world politics, his sister-in-law Mary Eady (Uncle to Jonathan, Michael and Katherine Eady-Zubovich (husband Gene) of Victoria, British-Columbia. He was Brother-in-law to Jim and Anne Laws (Uncle to Sarah) of Ottawa, Ontario, to Louise and Doug Lee (Uncle to David, Andrew, Gregory & Jacqueline) of Surrey, British-Columbia, to Margaret-Anne Laws (& the late Greg Walsh, and Uncle to Laura & Emily Walsh) of Perth, Ontario, to David Laws of Toronto, Ontario and Carolyn Laws of Vancouver, British-Columbia, Canada, as well as several other nieces and nephews on the Canadian side of his family, unmentioned here, but who he cared about as well.

His Dream of one day having an Amphibian plane, to fly to remote lakes, to get involved with the Make a Wish Foundation, to fly people with cancer above Acadia National Park, and to help rescue dogs across the U.S., was not to be, cut short of this cancer battle long before he ever wanted to stop enjoying life.

Warren was inspired by and inspired so many people along his life journeys, with his passion for life, flying and family, his fearless nature, his honor to serve his country, and his jobs, his fierce drive to survive his cancer battles.

He will be dearly missed, but never forgotten, as a loving husband and proud father, a highly respected pilot, an honorable veteran, a thoughtful neighbor, a nice brother-in-law and uncle, a genuine friend, a really cool guy who worked passionately, loved his family deeply, enjoyed the simple things in life, fought long and hard battles and who never stop dreaming!

Cremation took place privately in Boston Dec 28, 2018. Formal ceremonies to take place for burial of his ashes in the Spring and Summer of 2019 (dates TBD) in Arlington National Cemetary in Washington, DC with full Military Honors, and at his Home of Peace in Maine near Acadia National Park. Dear Deborah, Patrick and Scott,

Our deepest condolences to you all for your loss of this truly great man, husband, and father.

Warren will always live in my memory as an unforgettable man. For the simplest reasons, he has left such a lasting impression on me that I have come to realize that this is how true greatness works.

Warren always had a sincerity and honesty about him which made him such a refreshing soul to encounter as I ventured out my front door to do my yard work, falling in stark contrast to the world that can sometimes be so cold. I always admired his humility as a military pilot, and the way he faced his greatest battle with such dignity and fearlessness.

Sincere, honest, humble, fearless...thats the greatness I saw in Warren, and I feel privileged to have known him as our neighbor and family friend.

We are all so sorry for your great loss. Warren will be forever missed by so many. May he rest now in eternal peace embraced by the love of his Heavenly Father.
