Anthony Autorino Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Dominic Autorino, 80, of Farmington, (formerly of Wethersfield) beloved husband of Elizabeth Petrini Autorino, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 25, 2019. Anthony was born in Hartford on June 8, 1938 and was the son of the late Anthony and Lillian (Maselli) Autorino.Tony was born and raised in the South End of Hartford, he graduated from Bulkeley High School and went on to earn a B.S. and Master's Degree in Engineering from the University of Connecticut. He began his career in the Aerospace Field and worked his way up to becoming the youngest President of Hamilton Standard division of United Technologies. He then established his own company, Shared Technologies, which was the founder of the Intelligent Building. He then broadened his horizons with his endless entrepreneurial and philanthropic efforts throughout Greater Hartford, including his tireless efforts and generosity serving on boards and committees such as the Bushnell, CCMC and the University of St. Joseph's. Tony, along with his Dad "Gramps" and his eldest son Tony Jr. owned and operated Double A transportation of Rocky Hill for many years. With his lifelong commitment to Hartford, he was instrumental in the development of the Six Pillars Hartford and the Hartford Revitalization. He especially enjoyed boating, fishing and his prized Koi fish pond. He loved all sports especially a healthy Red Sox – Yankee rivalry with his grandchildren. Tony enjoyed his time spent at our CT shores and he was blessed to have been able to travel the world. Most of all he was grateful for the love of his family, his time with them meant everything to him.Tony's wisdom, guidance, tremendous talent and tireless giving, not only financially but mostly of himself along with his kindness and his humble ways will be missed by everyone who crossed his path.In addition to his wife, Anthony leaves his devoted children Andrea Autorino-Pagni, Lynn English and her husband Scott, Fred Autorino and his wife Renee, his step-son Joe Petrini and his wife Leslie and step daughter Lisa Petrini. He also leaves his 11 adored grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, along with many family and friends who are stunned with his loss and will miss him very much and his legacy will never be forgotten.Anthony is being welcomed into Heaven by his first wife, Carol Autorino and his son, T.J. Autorino. In addition to his parents, Anthony was also predeceased by Mark and Kathieann Autorino, Peter Petrini and Dan Pagni.Funeral services will leave on Tuesday, January 29th, at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, 140 Farmington Avenue, Hartford. Dear Autorino Family,
Sending heartfelt thoughts and prayers to you all at this difficult time.

I worked with Tony at Hamilton Standard from 1965-68 fresh out of college. Just observing Tony's determined walk and booming voice one could tell this man was going to be a "leader" and get the job done. It was pure joy working with all the engineers in my group, especially Tony. Seems like yesterday Tony and Carol were at my wedding 50 years ago.

If I were in CT I would be there to pay my respects, Tony was truly one of a kind. There is a special angel in Heaven.

God Bless,

Dear Andrea, Lynn, Fred and family,

I am so sorry to read of your father's sudden passing. You have had so many losses in your family in such a short time. I hope that the love of family and friends gives you the strength to endure all that has happened.

As you know, I met your father and everyone in your family over 20 years ago when I worked at the bank. I didn't see your father often, but always enjoyed his smiling face and kind words when he came in. His smile only grew bigger when he talked about his grandchildren.

After I left the bank I would run into your father at functions at St. Joe's and The Bushnell. Even though it had been many year since we had seen each other, he always remembered my name and we enjoyed a brief chat.

I will not be able to attend any of the services but will keep you all in my thought and prayers at this difficult time.
