SSgt. Charles Ernest DiFatta, Sr.

SSgt. Charles Ernest DiFatta, Sr., USAF, ret., age 79 and a resident of Biloxi passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012 in Biloxi.
Mr. DiFatta retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant after 20 years of service, where he served two tours in Vietnam. He was proud of his time working with war orphans in Saigon, and was a very giving and loving person. He was of the Catholic faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Joseph DiFatta and Mary Lou Tanner Conn; and two sisters, Lola Rose Taranto and Gloria Ann DiFatta.
He is survived by his life soulmate, Ann Hogya; his children, Vicki Lynn DiFatta-Bearden and her husband Mike, Charles E. DiFatta, Jr. and his wife Charlotte, John P. DiFatta, stepson, Richard E. Armstrong and his wife Wanda; his siblings, Betty Huff, Tony DiFatta, Brenda DiFatta, Phillip DiFatta, Joey DiFatta, Rosie Harrington, Tommy DiFatta, Jerri Lynn Pittman, and Margaret Conn; four grandchildren, Trey, Chad, JonJon, and Michael; and his great-grandchild, Hayden.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday October 8, 2012 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd, Biloxi, where friends may visit 1 hour prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tony, Phillip, Joey, and Tommy DiFatta, and Richard Armstrong and Tristen Liner.

I have very few, but very fond memories of this man, my grandfather. I remember running faster than ever, to jump into his arms, every time he came to visit. It was always a surprise for me. I will always cherish the time I spent with him. Rest in power Pawpaw. I love and miss you.
