Thomas H. "Tommy" Mims, Sr.
Hattiesburg
Mr. Thomas H. "Tommy" Mims, Sr., 63, of Hattiesburg, died Friday, March 15, 2013 at Forrest General Hospital. Services will be Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Dixie Baptist Church followed by burial in Clark Family Cemetery conducted by the Son's of the Confederacy. Mr. Mims was a member of Dixie Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. He was a member of IBEW Local 903. He was a member of the BPOE Lodge #599. He was a member of the Son's of the Confederate Veterans, 7th Mississippi Infantry Battalion. He was a long time employee of the Forrest County Schools. He was preceded in death by daughter, Shannia Mims; his mother, Helen Mims; and his mother-in-law Bea Leffler. He is survived by his wife, Karen Mims of Hattiesburg; four sons, Chance Mims; Tommy (Jennifer) Mims, Jr.; Kyle (Ashleigh) Mims; Rory (Kellie) Mims, all of Hattiesburg; his father, Ance Mims of Hattiesburg; a sister, Debbie (Richard) Thompson of Hattiesburg; Brother-in-law, Rudy (Terrie) Leffler of Hattiesburg; a sister-in-law, Angela (David) Ludlam of Senatobia MS; a father-in-law, Rev. Ray Leffler of Hattiesburg ;thirteen grandchildren, Taylor McKenzie, Tyler McKenzie, Fisher Mims, Laikyn Mims, Peyton Mims, Troy Mims, Parker Mims, Cooper Mims, Spencer Martin, Kaitlyn Odom, Keegan Odom, Kaden Barefoot, and Tanner Beck. Visitation will be Monday, March 18, 2013 at Dixie Baptist Church from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Arrangements are being made at Trustmark National Bank for a scholarship in honor of Tommy Mims.

He was such a great person we loved mr tommy I'm glad we got to know him and I'm glad to say he was a good friend he will be greatly missed by all the kids in our school system that he touched there lives my 4children loved him.rest in piece

Every time Mr. Mims came into our office to pick parts up he was SMILING and always very kind. We were shocked & saddened to hear of his passing. Our prayer is for comfort and strength for his family and friends during this rough time. He will be missed!
