James Ray Shelton, Sr.
Hattiesburg, MS
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Oak Grove United Methodist Church for Mr. James Ray Shelton, Sr., 69, of the Oak Grove Community, who died, Sunday, April 6, 2014 at his residence.
Interment will be in Ladner Muckelrath Cemetery.
Mr. Shelton was a retired brick mason, a life long member of the Oak Grove Untied Methodist Church and past member of the Elks Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Shelton and Myrtice Ladner Shelton, an infant son, John Louis Shelton, a nephew, Monty Lott and a great nephew, Jace Carpenter.
Mr. Shelton is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rebecca McIlwain Shelton of the Oak Grove Community; a son, James Ray Shelton, Jr. (Leigh) of the Oak Grove Community; a daughter, Kimberly Alexine Shelton of Sumrall, MS; four sisters, Nellie Shelton Lott, MJ Cain-Berry, Judy Shelton and Barbara Shelton Pouncey, all of the Oak Grove Community; two brothers, Joe Shelton III and Jack W. Shelton, both of the Oak Grove Community; two granddaughters, Rayleigh Grace Shelton, Tiffany Davis and a grandson, Cody Davis, all of the Oak Grove Community.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Oak Grove Untied Methodist Church.
A special thank you from the family to Camellia Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church in James's memory.

So many years have passed since I last saw either of you. I just wanted to express my sympathy and the love I have always had for my Oak Grove cousins whose home was my favorite place to spend time in the summer.
