James Vardaman Hudson, Sr.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at Hulett-Winstead Sumrall Chapel for Mr. James Vardaman Hudson, Sr., 101, of Sumrall.

He died Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at his residence.

Burial will be in Advance Cemetery.

Mr. Hudson was a Farmer, Bus Driver, and Maintenance for Lamar County Schools retiring in 1977. He was a long time member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church in Sumrall and the Sumrall Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Jean Smith Hudson and Bondee Packwood Hudson; a son, James K.V. Hudson, Jr.; a son-in-law, Gordon Miller, Sr.; his father, W.L. Hudson; his mother, Mary Cora Goar Hudson; step-mother, Irene Byrd Hudson; two sisters, Myrtle Hudson Baylis and Annie Maude Hudson Anderson; six brothers; Ben Hudson, Porter Hudson, Sr., Vander Hudson, Emmett Hudson, Austin Hudson, and Edsel Hudson.

He is survived by Four daughters, Shirley Miller, Frances Moore, Carol Miller (Kenneth), and Shannon Miller (Jerry) all of Sumrall; a brother, Charles Hudson (Jackie) of Round Rock, TX; a sister-in-law, Ima Jean Hudson of Pearl, MS; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, sixteen great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as Mr. Hudson's pallbearers will be Aaron Miller, Vinson Moore, Johnny Moore, Daryl Moore, David Moore, Keith Miller, Doug Miller, Micah Miller, Billy Hudson, and Robert Hudson. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Rev. Sammy Napier will officiate the service. Melita Miller and Vinson Moore will be vocalist.

Memorials may be made to the Hickory Grove United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 PM Saturday at Hulett-Winstead Sumrall Chapel.
