Jimmy Don Runnels, 63 of Hattiesburg, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm, on Monday, December 31, 2012, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mount Olive with burial in McNair Cemetery in Mount Olive. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 9:00pm Sunday, December 30, at the funeral home.

Jimmy Don was born November 11, 1949, to the late Ray & Daisy Hester Runnels. He served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard, 155th in Jackson, Ms as Staff Sergeant, for 40 years. He retired from Dixie Pipeline after more than 35 years of employment. Jimmy Don was very patriotic and loved God and his country. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time with his son, grandsons and family at the deer camp. His greatest pleasure was teaching his family love, faithfulness and leading by example. Jimmy Don was loved and well respected by everyone he touched.

Mr. Runnels leaves behind his beloved wife of 43 years, Judy Runnels,; children, Tracy Runnels and wife Lee and Mandy Runnels Ward and husband Cody; grandchildren, Jack and John Runnels all of Hattiesburg; brother, Stanley Runnels, Jackson; sister, Carolyn Sue Norris, Collins; and a host of nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws and many dear friends.
