Hattiesburg - Betty Green Chain of Hattiesburg passed away peacefully at her home and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at the age of 77.

Betty was born on August 9, 1941, in Hattiesburg, MS, and graduated from Hattiesburg High School in 1959. She attended the Mississippi University for Women where she attained a degree in music. She was married to Bobby Lee Chain, Sr. for 48 years before his passing in 2014, was actively involved in the community and a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Betty was a gracious Southern Lady who lived a life of love. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her children and grandchildren and she was so proud of them. She was a strong Christian, had a generous heart and was a remarkable cook. She enjoyed traveling, music, flowers, entertaining at her home, and being involved in any way possible with whatever her grandkids had going on. Betty also loved her friends dearly and her family would like to thank all of those who have visited and been so kind during this time of sorrow. She will forever be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee Chain, Sr., her brother, Dr. John Green, and her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Earl Green.

She is survived by her children, Laura Chain Felsher, Bobby Lee Chain, Jr. (Christy), John Webster Chain (Kerri), and Robin Chain Gordy (Joe); her grandchildren, Mary Katherine Easley (Brad), Leigh Ann McMahon (Alston), Harley Felsher Griffin (Reid), Madison Felsher, Margaret Felsher, Chase Felsher, Catie Chain, Ellie Chain, Webb Chain, Anna Caroline Chain, and Sellers Chain; her great grandchildren Abby, Emma and Anna Bradley Easley, and Adaline McMahon; one brother, Bill Green (Mary) of Corinth, one sister, Margaret McAndrew (Johnny) of Mobile, and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church of Hattiesburg, 4901 Hardy Street, Hattiesburg, MS 39402. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, and from 9:30 am until the service on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. Internment will be at Roseland Park Cemetery immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Hattiesburg.
