David Thomas "Tommy" Hollimon, 85, of Ovett, died Monday, June 9, 2014, in Hattiesburg. He was born at home in Perry County on October 29, 1928, to N. C. "Nollie" and Nancy "Nanny" (Shoemake) Hollimon.

Tommy was a lifelong resident of the Ovett/Whitfield Community. He married Jenny Demaris Phillips on December 24, 1946, and they shared 63 years together before her death in 2010. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Carl Hollimon and sister, Lois Odom. Tommy leaves four children: son, Jeffrey Thomas Hollimon and his wife Marilyn of Petal; son, Gary Philip Hollimon and his wife Nan of Petal; daughter, Angela Watkins and her husband Rick Watkins of Ovett; and daughter, Pamela Walter of Madison, AL; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Tommy was a local farmer, blessed by God in the development and success of his business. In addition to providing fresh produce to local markets, he also developed a regional business by growing, packing and transporting Mississippi grown sweet corn, turnip greens, cabbage and other vegetables to grocery warehouses in Memphis, Indianola, Indianapolis, Chicago, Little Rock and New Orleans for distribution to stores scattered across America. He was an award-winning grower of soybeans and also owned and operated T & R Logging and loved working and being in the forest. Tommy served his community on the Board of Trustees of the Runnelstown School District and the Board of Directors of the Pine Belt Regional Solid Waste Authority. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and sharing his hobby with his children and grandchildren. Through the years Tommy served the Lord through worship at the Mt. Olive Methodist Church in Ovett, and Petal Harvey Baptist Church in Petal.

Rev. Dale Phillips, Rev. Neil Marsh and Rev. Dustie Dunn will officiate at the service. Serving as pallbearers are: Matthew Hollimon, Philip Hollimon, Jonathan Watkins, Joshua Watkins, Richard Walter, and Brian Hollimon. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Martin and Clint Davis.

Visitation will be held at Jones & Son Funeral Home in Richton on Friday, June 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will also be a visitation on Saturday, June 14, at Petal Harvey Baptist Church at 9:30 a.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church Cemetery in the Whitfield Community.
