Alice Catherine Thompson Jones, age 87, of Clarksville, Indiana passed away on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Clarksville. Alice worked as a librarian and media clerk for Greater Clark County School Systems. After retirement, she was instrumental in establishing a library at her church. Alice was truly an incredible person that was cherished by the many people whose lives she touched.
She was born on Nov. 8, 1931, in Smithfield to the late Squire and Sarah Rodgers Thompson. Alice was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Jones; siblings, Cleston, Bailey, Francis, Lee Eddie, Wallace Thompson, Grace Southerland, Ella Day and Pearl Robinson.
Alice is survived by her children, Danny Jones (Gloria), Charlotte McCarty (Chris), Caryn Morris (Robert); grandchildren, Cara Hagan (Alfred), Christa Lee (David), Eric Jones (Ashley), Charla Ellenbrand (Kevin), Aaron Jones (Rebecca) and Ryan Jones (Emily); 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 10 a.m. at the church. Her funeral service was held at 12 p.m. on Thursday at First Southern Baptist Church (215 E. Ettels Lane, Clarksville) burial followed at Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
