Gary Phillip Cook, age 69, of Eminence, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, following a long illness. A native of Shelbyville, he was the son of the late John Franklin Cook and Bessie Lee Wentworth Cook.  He grew up in the Bagdad area.  He attended Eastern Kentucky University, where he majored in agriculture.  He was a farmer throughout his lifetime and the founder of ACB Metals in Eminence.  He was a friend to all and a wheeler/dealer who would give you the shirt off his back.  He enjoyed reconditioning farm equipment.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Cropper.
In addition to his parents; two sisters, Diane Cook and Janet Lee Cook-Lewis; one brother, Steve Cook; and one step-son, Josh Early, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son, Jonathan "Johnny" Cook of Eminence; his stepdaughter, Jill Early of New Bern, North Carolina; his loving companion of 14 years, Billie Detwiler of Eminence; and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has been selected.  A private family interment of the cremated remains will follow at a later date.
