1926 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
SARA "SALLY" JANE HUNTER HAWLEY, 87, of Saint Albans, W.Va., passed away June 26, 2014 at Thomas Memorial Hospital. Sally was born in Southern Indiana on December 23, 1926, to the late Wallace and Nova Hunter. She was a homemaker while her children were young and went to work at Union Carbide as a computer programmer for 10 years. She was an advocate for music appreciation, playing the hammer dulcimer around the state as a member of Saint Albans Music Appreciation Club, Presby Pickers, and played Vandalia and Cedar Lakes for many years, and also was inducted into Cedar Lakes Arts and Crafts Hall of Fame. Sally was also a member of Rosies the Riveters and D.A.R. Sally was a member St. Andrew United Methodist Church and lived in Saint Albans, W.Va., for nearly 60 years. In addition to her parents Sally was preceded in death by her husband, George Hawley; her brother, Vernon Hunter; her sister, Norma Lee Stewart and her son-in-law, Mark Morris. Sally was survived by her children, Karl Hawley of St. Albans, W.Va., Anne Morris of Barboursville, and Susan Conley and husband, Tom of San Antonio TX, and granddaughter Marion Morris of Champagne Ill., and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, Monday, June 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev Loretta Isaiah officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
