Louis Lesperance Obituary

LESPERANCE, LOUIS KENNETH Esq., Peacefully passed away on December 5, 2018. Recently predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia, and survived by his adoring children: Dr. Lawrence Lesperance, Robert Lesperance, Esq. (Irene), and Lisa Lesperance, Esq. and grand-children: Kaley, Kristine, Kourtney (and their loving mother Elke Lemaire), and Robert Louis and Patricia Rose. Louis was born on September 29, 1931 in Chicago to Lorette Daskiewicz and Louis Sienkiewicz. In 1941, his mother brought him to live in Miami and he was a proud Cadet Graduate and Salutatorian of the Miami Military Academy class of 1949. He then graduated from the Citadel, majoring in Engineering, in 1953 and soon began a distinguished career in the U.S. Marine Corps and quickly elevated ranks to Lt. Colonel before continuing to serve in the Reserves. He then graduated from UM Law School via the GI Bill in 1959, the same year he married the love of his life, Patricia. Louis began his 60 year legal career as a Dade County Prosecutor in Richard Gerstein's office, then as a civil litigator with some of Miami's most prestigious law firms, before going into private practice. He was extremely proud of his Polish heritage and was the great grandson of Nobel Prize winning author, Henryk Sienkiewicz (Quo Vadis). His mother was a founding member of the Polish American-Club and Louis later served as Club President and Attorney. He was a devoted husband and father and made sure his family traveled the world and that his children were raised in their Catholic Faith and attended Columbus HS and Lourdes Academy. He was very involved in the PTA and never missed a football game, track meet or ballet recital. His hobbies included travel, photography, reading history, snow skiing, and golf. He had a passion to help people and was an avid dog owner, adopting and rescuing many wonderful pets up until his last days. He was blessed with so many wonderful friends and enjoyed hosting parties. Always greeting people with a joke, he would make friends instantly and get a smile from everyone he came in contact with. In his later years, he loved spending time with and loving his grandkids and was a strong role model to them. His passing is a tremendous loss to our family and the community, but his spirit and passion for life will live on eternally. Family will receive friends from 11 AM until noon on Saturday, December 15 at Stanfill Funeral Home, with services beginning at noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to our Louis' beloved alma mater, The Citadel, payable to: The Citadel Foundation, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29409.

Lisa and family, Condolences for the passing of your father. Your parents were so very sweet, even though I didn't know them well, they made an impact on my heart, and Bruce's. Your dad loved coming over with your mom to get coconuts whenever we trimmed our trees. We loved the time with them and talked about many things. We will always cherish their memory, as well as having you as a neighbor years ago my Pisces friend. Xoxo
